To our Valued Clients, Members and Broader Equine Community:
We would like to inform you of an urgent situation that has necessitated the temporary shut down of our horse events effective immediately until Dec 2, 2025. Commissioner Sid Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture issued an alert on November 19, 2025 regarding an outbreak of Equine Herpesvirus Type 1 (EHV-1) reported by Texas Veterinarians in Central Texas.
To protect the health of every horse, we must prevent potential transmission and comply with the biosecurity recommendations from the Texas Animal Health Commission. Suspending horse event operations (travel, showing, mixing of horses) is the most responsible action right now to limit further spread.
This is not just about protecting our facility – it’s about safeguarding the larger Texas equine community. The economic and emotional value of our horses deserves every precaution. We understand this is a significant disruption, and we deeply regret any inconvenience this causes. However, we believe the temporary event shut down is the responsible and necessary step to protect both horses and people.

Volunteer Opportunities
Calling all Horse Enthusiasts!
Most of the horse shows and events at Texas Rose Horse Park rely on volunteers to help the event run smoothly and create an enjoyable experience for everyone. Anyone is welcome to volunteer, although we do ask that children under the age of 16 have a parent or adult guardian with them for safety reasons. There are many positions that require no experience and are open to all ages. Volunteering is an excellent way to learn more about horse competitions and to be a part of the horse community. Riders, parents and competitors can work their volunteer shifts around their own competition schedule, and any volunteers can work partial-day shifts. Horse enthusiasts, here is your chance to get involved!
